Dr.Rahul/Dr.Muskaan/Dr.Anjali Caught Smoking!

Smoking is a bad habit but its personal choice! But what if doctors smoke??There are few people who want to do this but don’t want anyone to know this! That too is acceptble, but what can explain 2 girls & a guy in ladies bathroom full of smoke??
We caught mayank anand(dr.rahul),dhrashti(drnai.muskaan) & suna(dr.anjali) from the popular serial dill mill gaye, in the ladies toilet together, which was filled with smoke.Yes,they forgot to latch the door & when it was opened by who genuinely wanted to use the toilet, they threw their cancer sticks & immediatly ran out looking visibly embrassed. Looks like doctors have run out of places to hide the cigarette butts. What happened to the terraces, bakdoors & parking lots??

Sukriti Khandpal Interview

Dill Mill Gayee has a new family member in the form of Dr. Riddhima! Sukirti Khandpal, the petite and gorgeous, takes on the new challenge from Shilpa Anand and promises to keep the audiences entertained with her role as Dr. Riddhima.

So we caught up with Sukirti to find out about her new role…

~ About this new role…
I will be playing Riddhima who is a doctor. A simple and cute girl. This role is different from that of what I played in Jersey. And this difference in roles is something that I like playing.

~ How is the shooting going...
It is going really well and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Am slowly getting into the groove.

~ What was the reason to replace the character?
I am not sure about that but I guess Shilpa had some personal reasons…

~ How did you feel when you were approached?
I felt really nice. It feels great to work with the production house that you are familiar with and it all the more makes you feel confident.

~ What made you accept the role which is replacing someone?
It doesn’t matter to me, I just took it up. There is no reason as such. I believe in my creativity and confidence level…And the theme is also good, so why not?

~ This role should be all the more challenging because you will have to match with the original character…Is it challenging?
May be…If you look at it from the audience point of view, it takes a while to get them used to it. In this industry, replacements happen and it is natural that these comparisons arise. Anyways I will give my best and the rest is left to the audience.

~ How is your rapport with your co stars...
It is been good to work with them. Infact everyone gave me a nice warm welcome. I should mention that Karan has been really sweet. Overall everyone is being very supportive and co-operative which is all the more helping me feel comfortable.

~ How is your chemistry with Karan on screen...Have you been able to share a better chemistry than Shilpa?
You should be asking Karan about it…I feel that the chemistry is quite good. But I cannot really compare with Shilpa because we are two different people. And Karan and I share a good comfort zone with each other.

~ What is next?? Your future plans…
Right now I am focusing on Dill Mill Gayee and would like to concentrate on what I have for the time being. If there are good projects my way then I will surely take them up.

~ TV/Films
Doesn’t matter to me. It all depends on the kind of offers and the subject matter which I will look into…

~ Any dream roles…
I do not have any specific dream role as such but I believe in giving variety to the audience. So I prefer doing different roles and like to give my fullest in whatever I do.

Sukirti Khandpal Interview (The New Dr.Ridhimma)

Star One’s Dill Mill Gayye has at last revealed its new Riddhima and as confirmed by Telly Buzz few days back, it is the Jersey No. 10 girl Sukriti Khandpal who gets into the shoes of Shilpa Anand.
Did you expect that you will get to play the role of Riddhima? Yes, I was very confident that I will get this role. When I started my shoot, I was nervous but the way the production house supported me has been remarkable. Even the co-artists have put me at ease and I am enjoying every moment of my shoot. Any specific preparation you had to undergo to get into the shoes of Riddhima.. I think Riddhima is a very natural and real character, which does not need much preparation. Above all, I am very happy that I am not playing the stereotype girl who will only be seen wearing short skirts (laughs). I am glad that I have got two real characters to play in television, whether it is Jersey No. 10 or Dill Mill Gayye. How important do you think is your co-star? How do you think you will go about sharing screen space with Karan? I think in any serial you work in, the co-star plays a major role. Karan and I have become very good friends in a short span of time. He has made me feel comfortable on the sets. I just hope that we both can have a good chemistry going on screen too.. Shilpa Anand has been the face of Riddhima and has carved a niche for herself in the viewers’ heart. Do you think you will be able to do justice to the role? I think it is for the audience to decide. The only thing I can say at the outset is that I will put in my 100 percent to work. I am pretty confident that with the support and encouragement of the production house, channel and my co-artists, I will slowly make a place for myself in the viewers’ heart. I hope and pray that I am successful in living up to the expectation of one and all. What kind of a rapport do you share with Shilpa Anand? Have you talked to her after getting selected for this role? Well, please note that Shilpa and I have worked together in the past and we share a very good rapport. In fact, she was very happy when she got to know that I will play Riddhima and she welcomed me on the sets very nicely. She has always been very helpful. What is your dream role? I would always want to play realistic characters and would love to try something new and different every time I take up a new role. If not an actor, then what would you have been? Well, I would have been a social worker or a lawyer.

Dill Mill Gayye Sets Record in TRP

The popularity of Karan Singh aka Dr Armaan of Dil Mil Gaye landed him in trouble recently. It all began when an intern on the show asks Dr Armaan for his number on an episode aired recently. The random cell number he uttered in the serial turned out to be an industrialist’s number. The man was inundated by calls from girls across the nation asking for Dr Armaan. Karan says, "The industrialist soon contacted the star CEO and told that everyday he gets a host of calls for Dr Armaan. He even threatened to sue the channel so I had to come on the show and tell everyone that they can reach Dr Armaan on Star One at 8.30 pm from Monday to Thursday."

The TRPs of the serial has reached 1.8, which is a record for Star One and the hit jodi of Armaan and Ridhima has become a household name. So how close is this jodi in real life?

Karan, who is very good friends with Shilpa, says, "In real life too I play a lot of pranks on Shilpa and trouble her on sets of Dil Mil Gaye. She is a wonderful co-artist to work with and I really enjoy her company." Before the serial was on air there was a lot of apprehension about its success. But with the soaring TRPs it looks like this pair is here to stay.

Name, fame, recognition, appreciation, awards, fanfare and a chance to work with superstar Amitabh Bachchan is surely the dream goal of so many wannabe and established stars. But all this and more has been achieved by a little girl who is just 9 years old. Whether be it as Chaitali Thakkar in Television or as Amitji’s neighbour and confidante in the movie “Cheeni Kum” – Swini Khara has aced it all. How does it feel to get an award, she was asked and we get the prompt reply, “I feel very much happy and it is a great achievement. Getting an award is a very good experience as you get the results of your work”. At such a tender age, such maturity in expression is really amazing. When she was asked if she liked her role as “Chaitali”, she replied in the affirmative saying that she enjoys playing the sweet and naughty character of Chaitali very much. But she makes sure to point out that she is not exactly like Chaitali, “I am not naughty like Chaitali, but I share one plus point with her. She always comes first in class and I do too.” But what if Swini is asked to be as naughty as Chaitali - would she be? “I can do that. But I want to be a good simple girl who studies and want to work more and go ahead in my life”, is her reply that shows how grounded the girl is. Swini shared that they have a lot of fun on the sets of Baa Bahu aur Baby and together with Gattu (Deven Bhojani) has a great time playing. Deven incidently also happens to be her favorite. Is there is any other actor she wants to work with? Pat came her reply, “Hrithik Roshan”. Swini is surely a wonder kid. A topper in all forms of life; a girl with innocence in her voice, oozing maturity in her work, this girl has miles to go and great things to achieve in life..

Mayank Anand As A Anchor

Anchor vs Actor
Anchoring is a different ball game. I had thought that it was piece of cake but it isn’t. As an actor you balance the act with your co-actors. But as an anchor, it’s a solo take. However, it’s exciting to carry the show on your shoulders.

‘Cine Song’
It’s a one-hour show that covers a three-hour film. All the favourite scenes, songs and trivia surrounding the film are presented. The theatre ambience allows you to sit for three hours, but at home you want to view something racy. Here nostalgia is recaptured and memory refreshed. I have always loved Hindi cinema and researching for every show is fun.

Friendship
An ideal friend is one who stands by me, no matter what comes my way. He can tell me, ‘Dude you are wrong!’

Ideal woman
She should be spunky, independent, a go-getter and have her head on her shoulders. More than being pretty, she should be somebody I could sit down and talk to with a glass of wine. I should be able to relate to her on a mental level.

Turn-on
A good conversation is a major turn-on! Also eyes speak a lot. I find the fragrance of Pleasures by Estee Lauder very sensual on a woman.

Romance
I am a die-hard romantic though I would forget birthdays and anniversaries. But any random Tuesday I would surprise my woman by buying her flowers. It’s like saying, ‘I have had a long day but I did think of you.’ No breakfast- in-bed for me, rather it would be an open-air meal. I would love to cook it myself since I am an experimental chef.

Lust
It is a human trait. It means a strong desire for something and it need not only be sexual. I lust for good work!

Books
I can read everything under the sun except self-help books. My top books are Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.

Philosophy
Live and let live, and we all will be happy. Don’t judge people. If they are happy doing what they are, let them be.

De-stress
I cook, read, paint or sleep my stress way. I like old-school rock music. But at home I like to have my quiet time and read.

An unknown side
I am very short-tempered. I am a cranky riser and need some time with my newspaper and chai. There is a difference between getting up and waking up.

God
I am not religious. But if my mother asks me to accompany her to the temple, I do so because I don’t like her going alone. Giving God ultimatums like, ‘If You want me to believe in You, then You have to do this for me,’ doesn’t work. My sense of energy is myself.

Dr.Keerti Mehra

Known to be among the most popular vamps on Indian Television, Sonia is headed towards a drastic change to her stereotyped image. Sonia is a part of Star One’s - Dill Mill Gaye, where she plays the character of - Keerti Mehra, a strict doctor, who makes life difficult for the interns.

We talk to Sonia and get an insight to her character in the show, her future projects, and how does she feel about her versatile roles.

Tell us something about your role in the new show:

I play a character called - Keerti Mehra, who is a strict professor who makes life a little difficult for the interns. She isn’t a negative character, thank-fully (laughter).

How is it been playing a positive character for the first time on Indian television?

I am so glad that I am not playing a vamp. It was time I began doing something different. Its been a little difficult actually, playing positive. Between the shots, the director has to cut the shot, as my expressions look negative, so it was difficult at first, but I am sure soon, I’ll get the hang of it.

There have been rumors that you might return to KumKum, is that going to happen anytime soon?

I don’t know, I was to start shooting soon with them, but things didn’t work out, the production has asked me to join them, in the first week of September, lets see how that works out.

A final note take on your new show?

Its something very different, my character, the story, everything. So be on a lookout for Dil Mil Gaye.

Karan has About His Character As Dr.Armaan And Dil Mill GAyye

The serial now has pyar, masti, emotions and betrayal has Karan playing the young intern Dr. Arman Malik. "Arman the son of a doctor. He is confident, spoilt and flirtatious. But he is a very good doctor too and is very serious about his work," says Karan.
He says Arman is both serious and fun-loving. He gets along well with the dean’s elder daughter, also an intern, Dr. Anjali Gupta and romance starts brewing between the two. But before the relationship evolves any further, complications arise and Arman falls in love with the dean’s younger daughter Dr. Ridhima. "I am expecting everyone to love the show. It’s not a normal family drama. The new interns are full of spunk, commitment, energy and the story has lot of drama. It also explores the complex world of relationships," says the actor who is having great time working for the show. "We have lot of fun on the sets. The idea is to enjoy your work and when you are happy you tend to work better."
Karan is a fitness freak and loves swimming besides playing basketball and volleyball. But he is not a party animal. "I am not into parties and late nights. I have a few close friends but they aren’t from the TV industry," he signs off

I face things as they come:Shilpa

Hardly had she dreamt of becoming an actress until acting just happened to her. A software professional otherwise, Shilpa Anand is gaining all the attention on the small screen these days for her character Dr Riddhima in serial Dill Mill Gayye . We caught up with this pretty gal when she recently paid a visit to the city. So how has been her experience on TV like? “It has really been great. I am just enjoying my work though the hours are very long. But I don’t feel that it’s my first time on television. That’s also because my co-stars are quite supportive,” she says. Wonder why this switch from being a software professional to an actor? “Making a career in acting was not a deliberate decision. It was actually on the insistence of some of my friends that I started taking modelling assignments which gradually led to getting film offers from the South, which I accepted. Down South my work even received a lot appreciation. And that’s how my journey in this line began. But at the moment I’m happy working on small screen as it has really raised my popularity graph.” But with so many fresh faces on screen, we ask her what would make her stand apart from them? “See, each actor has his own style of acting. So do I. At the same time I keep working to improvise my acting skills so that I can stand apart from my small screen counterparts.” Having done modelling too, we next ask her, what does she prefer between modelling and acting and she takes off, “There is a big difference between the two. In modelling one needs to be focussed for you have the responsibility of endorsing a brand while in acting the attention is shared by the other co-stars as well which makes it a bit convenient for the actor. Therefore I feel acting much easier then modelling.” What plans for the future? “See I don’t believe in planning things for future. I face things as they come. But yes I would definitely want to grow as an actor and that people know me for my acting. Be it comedy, romantic or thrillers I would like to try all of these and show my versatility.” As she readies to leave we shoot one last question. What’s Shilpa doing when not acting? “Acting is a hectic job. So whenever I get time you’d find me sleeping. Also in order to maintain my figure and keep myself fit going to the gym is a part of my routine.”

Shraddha Nigam with boyfriend Karan Singh

Shraddha Nigam's boyfriend Karan Singh is in trouble. His Dill Mill Gaye (Sanjivani 2) co-actor Sonia Singh has gone bonkers over him. So far, it's a one-sided affair. On the sets of Dill Mill Gaye, Sonia goes all out to take care of Karan. Says a source, "During lunch break, Sonia keeps asking Karan if he's eaten food. When he eats late, she gets very worried. During her free time, between the shots, she tries to spend as much time possible with him. She talks to him very lovingly. It can be seen in her eyes when she speaks to him. We don't need to wear glasses to understand what's happening."

Our source also says that she has been brooding about the fact that she can't get Karan's attention and of late, has even got into drinking. She has been crying to her friends that she has gone crazy about Karan.

Sonia Singh
An actor from Dill Mill Gaye, reveals, on condition of anonymity, "Many actors got together and explained to Sonia that she should control her feelings for Karan, else she will ruin her marriage. But she just does not listen."

When contacted, Sonia says, "I like Karan as a co-actor and everybody on the sets likes him. I don't look at him differently."

Sonia was only 17 years old when she got married to Avinash Bobby, who has written for serials like Kamal and Koi Apna Sa, but is currently unemployed. When asked about her marriage of 10 years, she says, "I am happy with Bobby and my marriage is not on the rocks. I am staying with my husband."

However, Karan chooses to take the safe route. He feigned ignorance about Sonia's feelings. However, a family friend of Karan says, "Karan can't do much about Sonia. After all, she is a girl. He can't be aggressive with her. We hope this dies down."

When contacted, Karan's girlfriend Shraddha Nigam, says, "Many girls swoon over Karan. I take it in my stride."

Passions and Stress Busters of Shilpa Anand

Ranging from computers to films and more.. find out what Shilpa Anand is passionate about; also get to know the efforts taken by her to keep away from stress...
Shilpa Anand, the gorgeous Riddhima of Star One’s Dill Mill Gayye is passionate about computers. Wondering why? Well, Shilpa before taking to modeling was a Software Developer and was working in a Software Firm. “Yes, I was working as a software developer for few months; modeling was always a hobby for me, but then, I thought of taking up modeling assignments for a profession”, says Shilpa.
Apart from being a successful model, Shilpa has done over 50 ads. Shilpa is also fond of horse riding. Says the model turned actress, “Horse riding is a very passionate sport to be involved in. When I was in USA, I used to ride a lot. But now, with a full-fledged TV career, I am not able to devote much time to horse riding”.

So what is Shilpa passionate about these days? “I love to listen to music; whenever I want to take it easy after a strenuous shooting schedule, I want music for my ears. So Music is a passion which is more of a stress buster for me”, says Shilpa. “I love to surf net and whenever I am free, I keep in touch with my friends thro’ chat”, adds the actress.

Many stars take to the small screen first, and then make their way to the big screen. But for Shilpa, it is the other way round, as the ravishing actress has run around trees in few Kannada as well as Telugu films. A lesser known fact is that, Shilpa happens to be the sister of the very popular and successful actress of the South, Sakshi Shivanand. “I had a great passion to work in films, have done films in Telugu and Kannada. I have also worked in a Hindi film ‘Iqraar By Chance’. When I entered films, my sister had already made it big there; my mother who used to accompany my sister and stay with her down south, advised me to take up something, where she need not accompany me.(laughs) So when I got an offer for Dill Mill Gayye, I grabbed it with both hands”, says Shilpa with a smile on her face.

Shooting schedules can be really stressful, so how does Shilpa cope up with all this? What is it that acts as a stress buster to you? “I do breathing exercises in the morning; also try few chanting techniques and meditation. This gives me a relaxed feeling. I also take to jogging and swimming after a hard day’s work. I guess these are good ways of being healthy in mind and heart”, says the fitness freak, Shilpa as she signs off.

He is very good in time management and is absolutely fine with the timings. An actor with such dedication and talent is sure to go a long way in the approaching times.

Karan Singh Grover's Tattoo gayab

Karan Grover, aka Dr. Armaan Mallik of Dill Mill Gayye fame, has an entire left arm covered with a tribal design tattoo and the right arm with a dragon tattoo. But for the role of a medical intern, he covers up his arms with loads of makeup. However, problems arose when Karan was supposed to play basketball in a sleeveless vest in one of the episodes.

So, will this medical intern reveal his tattoos? Unfortunately, they'll still remain covered. "Though I was wearing a sleeveless vest, no one was able to see my tattoos as they've covered by makeup. It took about 15 minutes to cover each arm" says Karan.

We reckon that it's a folly not to reveal his tattoos as they sure would have been more appealing than watching him act.

Karan Singh has become Karan Grover !!!

But there’s another Karan Grover on TV already! So why this change?

Karan Grover earlier known as Karan Singh, is happy to be a part of a TV soap because he gets to be his mischievous self on Dill Mill Gayye .

“I am a mischievous guy. I think that the reason I enjoy playing this role. I can identify with the role not just as an actor but also as a viewers. I personally would’ve seen the serial even if I wasn’t acting in it. it’s got that young vibe to it,” he says.

Does that mean he is against the saas-bahu serials. “No, I am not. People may not praise these family dramas, but they garner high TRPs. And that’s what matters at the end of the day, right?” he says.

Karan who began his career in the TV industry as Karan Singh, is now known as Karan Grover. What’s this name game?

“It’s pure numerology. In between I was using Karan Singh Grover, but now I have gone back to being Karan Grover. I think it suits me. Plus what’s the wrong in trying out something if it’s not going to cause you any harm,” he says. But does the name cause any confusion considering that there’s already another Karan Grover in the TV industry. “I know Karan. But we don’t look similar or are not in the same soap, so there hasn’t been any trouble as of now,” he says. Karan who was working in the hotel industry says he was bitten by the acting bug and gave up his job to get into this profession.

Karan who started his TV career with Kitni Mast Hain Zindagi , has also done other serials like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and SaharaOne’s Solah Shringar . But despite having worked in dailies Karan is one of the few actors who doesn’t have any complaints about the now famous hectic schedules in the TV industry.

“I used to work in the hotel industry before I took up acting and believe me the schedules over there were as hectic. I have worked at a stretch of 16-17 hours earlier too, so it’s not really a big deal if you know how to manage time,” says the actor.

He is very good in time management and is absolutely fine with the timings. An actor with such dedication and talent is sure to go a long way in the approaching times.

Karan likes fun & peppy roles

Karan Singh Grover who grew up in Saudi Arabia and Delhi, is a hotel management graduate who found his calling in acting.

“My father always believed in back up plans. And I agreed with him. I worked in the hotel industry for a short while but it was destined that the glamour bug would bite me. I participated in a beauty contest, and won the most popular model tag,” says Karan.

After that, there was no looking back — Karan did ramp shows, advertisements, worked with a popular music channel, even hosted a radio show and then landed a role in a Balaji production.

“Apart from Balaji, I worked with other production houses as well and this gave me a fair exposure to different kinds of roles. Now I am going to play this flamboyant fun doctor and you can say that the character comes close to my personality; except for the fact, that I don’t have a medical degree!,” laughs Karan who feels that every role has an inherent challenge to it, be it a role in a saas-bahu saga or a youth-oriented series.

But Karan does have preferences. “Of course playing a young professional, who is fun and peppy is nice. In these kinds of roles, one thankfully doesn’t have to be melodramatic or go overboard. I like that.”

And though Karan is enjoying his romance with television, he still hasn’t forgotten to keep up a back up plan ready. “I want to do an MBA in marketing. That is a perfect degree to go with my graduation in hotel management and maybe some day, I might want to use that.”

I’m flirtatious, says Karan

Karan Singh Grover talks about girlfriend Shraddha Nigam and the show 'Dill Mill Gaye'.

Girls, eat your heart out. This is a great help for a newcomer like me. Shraddha’s an extremely caring and happy person. She gives more than 100 per cent to a relationship.”

Fortunately, this hasn’t dimmed his popularity with the fairer sex.

“I am so glad that I am being liked by all. Probably, my character Armaan Malik in ‘Dill Mill Gaye’ is lovable. And trust me; I am just like him in real life—flirtatious, fun-loving and tension-free. I am serious about my work but apart from that I am always playing pranks on people.”

This reminds him of the incident with co-star Shilpa Anand. “I am always punching her good-humouredly. Once we were performing a scene and I happened to punch her right on her lips. The poor thing had a swollen lip for a long time,” he laughs adding, “But she’s a good friend.”

Though the show ‘Dill Mill Gaye’ is popular, the consensus is that it’s deviating from the basic storyline. “Yes, I have got that response too. There was a romantic angle between Shilpa and me. But now, we are consciously getting back to the hospital saga,” he clarifies.

Right now, it’s just this show which is taking up all of Karan’s time. “However, I am open to all kinds of work—social drama, travel shows and even films. It’s good work that I am craving for.

Interview with Pankit Thakker (Dr. Atul)

Interview with Pankit Thakker (Dr. Atul)

Pankitt Thaker, who plays Atul Joshi in "Dill Mill Gayye", holds a very simple view about television serials. All that matters is the concept and not the hype, he believes. The actor talks about his experience of doing the new youthful show and how he gets along with his co-stars.

Your third serial on StarOne "Dill Mill Gayye" is doing well, what do you have to say about it?
It's good that our show is doing very well and I am very excited about it. A lot of people believe that only a certain genre like the saas-bahu sagas works on television. But our show is very different from other shows. So that proves that the genre doesn't matter, it's the concept that counts. How did you bag this role?I went through an audition. I had already worked with one of the creative directors and we knew each other.

All you young actors have got a lot of footage from this serial. Do you thing you all will be able to live up to the expectations of the audience?
Frankly speaking, I have previously done bigger shows, like "India Calling" and "Special Squad" with StarOne, which was much talked about. Before that, I had worked with Balaji, so this hype around "Dill Mill Gayye" doesn't really affect me. I have seen all this before.

How similar is your reel character of Atul Joshi with the real you?
It's an absolute contrast. In real life, I am an introvert, very reserved, who likes to be left alone. On the other hand, Atul is very light-hearted, juvenile and an extrovert.

Did you face problems in mixing with others on the sets because of your reserved nature?
The problem with me is that I don't open up easily with anybody. I am a very reserved guy. So it was difficult for me to gel with others even though I wanted to. I took a lot of time to open up. Now, I have struck a rapport with all. Personally, it doesn't matter to me who are friends with whom. I totally depend on my vibes. If they are positive, then only I make friends. Touchwood! people here on the sets are really very nice. If I don't like someone I would say that in the face.

Any funny incident on the sets that you can recall of?
There are plenty of them. You can ask the girls about it, they will tell you all about me. They keep telling me that I am very funny, which actually I am not. That's what I find funny.

What other projects are you currently working in?
Next up is a show with Cinevista on Zee. But there is time for it. So I don't want to talk about it right now.

What can the audience expect from "Dill Mill Gayye"?
You should not expect anything from serials, you must simply enjoy them. Today, this show is being hyped, tomorrow some other show will be hyped. What's important is to preserve the essence of the show. We are doing that. Even if some other new serial hits the block, the audience must stay back with us.

What are you very passionate about?
I am passionate only about acting. I even read books to enhance my acting skills.

What would you like to be known as by one and all?
As an actor, no second thoughts about that

Interview -Shilpa Anand (Dr. Riddhima)

Interview -Shilpa Anand (Dr. Riddhima)

Shilpa Anand who plays Dr. Riddhima Gupta in "Dill Mill Gayye" talks about the audience reaction, her experience on the sets and why the show won't go the "Sanjeevni" way.

"Dill Mill Gayye" has succeeded in drawing the audience, your reaction?

I am glad of course. I am playing Dr. Riddhima Gupta, an intern at Sanjeevni, and the daughter of Sushank Gupta, the dean of the hospital, played by Monish Behl. I have a sister named Dr. Anjali Gupta who often gets irritated with me. And then there is Dr. Armaan who troubles me a lot.

This is your first television appearance, how has the experience been so far?

It has been good so far. Television requires commitment on the part of the actor, it has long work hours. It's hectic but what keeps me motivated is the contentment. After all, hectic schedules are part of all daily soaps. I have been lucky that the whole production team has been very co-operative.

How did you get this role?

They just called and said they wanted me to do this role and I agreed. They took a look test and I was on board.

You have a sister in real life and in this serial, too. So was it easy for you to introduce a few things from real life in your acting?

No, not at all. The chemistry with my real sister is completely different from that with my reel sister in the serial. In the show, my sister and I get into a lot of petty arguments.

You have got a lot of exposure in this serial, do you think you will be able to live up to the expectations of the audience?

I guess so. All I can say is that I will try my best.

How similar are you and the character of Dr. Ridhima Gupta?

Certain traces are similar. A few differences are also stark here and there. But we are very similar with regard to our approach to life. She is straightforward and doesn't take crap from anyone. Nor do I.

"Sanjeevni" is quite similar to "Dill Mill Gayye", which did very well in the start but later diverted from the main love story. Will the same happen with "Dill Mill Gayye"?

Frankly speaking, I haven't watched "Sanjeevni", but I don't think "Dill Mill Gayye" is similar to it. I don't know what turn "Sanjeevni" took in the end, but "Dill Mill Gayye" has a strong and interesting storyline that won't need to be changed later on.

Can you honestly tell us whether you faced any problems in adjusting with your coactors?

All of them were so good. I really had no problem in mixing with any of my co-stars.

Interview with Muskaan Mehani (Dr. Sapna)

Interview with Muskaan Mehani (Dr. Sapna)

Muskaan Mehani quit "Mamta" because she didn't want to play the role of a mother when she herself is just 22. Now, she will play the character of Dr. Sapna Shah in the new youth-oriented serial "Dill Mill Gayye". The actress also has a small role in Sajid Khan's "Heyy Babyy". She tells us about how her new show is different from saas-bahu dramas and her future plans.

How did you get this role?

They had called me for the audition. Sapna is a Gujarati and so they wanted someone who can speak a bit of Gujarati. I am from Ahmedabad so I can speak the language very well. They just took a look test as they were searching for an innocent, soft face. And to my fortune, I had what they required.

How similar is the character to the real you?

This girl belongs to a middle-class family and is docile in nature. She doesn't react even if someone talks rudely with her. She lives for her dream. I am somewhat like her and even I hail from a middle-class family.

What do you feel about the show?

This is a very youthful show, made keeping in mind the GeNext. The audience will not see saas, bahu, bhabhi, and other such relations. It's about medical students and their journey towards achieving their professional dreams. They are all from different backgrounds and have different personalities. While someone is sober, someone is negative, yet another is a cool dude. It's about their ups and downs in life. I am sure the audience would like it.

How much fun did you all have during the making of this show?

Oh, we had a ball on the sets. The main reason could be that we are all of the same age group.

Did you do some research before playing a doctor in this serial?

Yes, we all had attended workshops of Dr. Junaid. We learnt how to administer injections. And it was very much needed, as medicine is a very serious profession. If we were not acquainted with the basics we would look funny, and that we just couldn't afford. We can't make fun of such a profession.

Do you think the audience would appreciate "Dill Mill Gayye"?

My character is realistic and even my dialogues are simple. I can say that there is a 50 per cent chance that the audience will like my character, and I am 100 per cent sure that they will like the show. I am happy being part of this show and very excited.

How similar is "Dill Mill Gayye" to "Sanjivani"?

I used to watch "Sanjivani". "Dill Mill Gayye" is different from that serial. It's just that the name of the hospital is Sanjivani, and the dean is Mohnish Behl. Apart from these, all the characters and the story are totally different.

Do you feel the audience needs a break from the stereotyped family dramas?

Well, one can't deny the fact that family dramas are still popular. When a production house comes up with a concept it's made for a target audience. The way our show was made keeping youth in mind. Similarly, family shows are made to cater to homemakers. And believe me, the market for family shows is huge in India. The rest depends upon the audience.

What other projects are in the pipeline?

I have a part in Sajid Khan's directorial debut "Heyy Babyy". And as of now, I am occupied with "Dill Mill Gayye". May be after three-four months, I will look for something. I always like experimenting with roles, so if in the near future I get a chance to act on the big screen, I will definitely try that out depending upon the offer

Interview with Sunaina Gulla (Dr. Anjali)

Interview with Sunaina Gulla (Dr. Anjali)

Sunaina Gulla, who plays the character of Dr. Anjali in "Dill Mill Gayye", is a complete gastronome. So much that she just can't stop when she starts talking about food.

Are you a complete foodie or do you watch what you eat?

I just love to eat. Taste is the main criterion for me, be it any cuisine. If the food is tasty then I don't mind much about the other things. I specially like sea food.

Your favourite cuisine is --- Continental/Oriental/Indian/others.

Thai food. I also love to have Italian and Greek dishes. And Indian, too (laughs). Actually, I love tasty food so there is no particular preference.

What do you prefer --- homemade food or outside food?

I don't like homemade food. So, whenever I find time, I just go out and taste stuff from roadside stalls, restaurants or any other eatery.

Do you like vegetarian or non-vegetarian food?

Of course, non-vegetarian. Although, I do have vegetarian at times, but non-veg is always welcome.

Drink you like along with your food?

I take water, but I can drink Coke with any dish.

Do you take any hard drink? If yes, what are the brands you prefer?

I'm not a regular, but occasionally I prefer wine and beer.

What about junk food?

There is only junk food on my list of favourite dishes. That's because they are all so tasty.

Your favourite fast food eatery?

Monza, I love its Italian cuisine.

Organic aloo or Batata Vada?

(Laughing) Batata Vada (more laughter).

Favourite restaurant/eating place which you think is a must-visit for all and sundry?

There's nothing fixed for me. As I prefer taste more than the food value, I like just about anywhere.

Your take on diet and health food?

I tried those once and ended up with 10 kgs more than what I weigh now. There was much pressure on me to go on a diet. Even then, I used to drink Coke at night when nobody would notice. But I loved having mangoes that time. Now I weigh just 48 kgs, so I don't need to go on a diet.

Which would be that one dish that you will not be able to resist?

Chocolate cakes.

Could you share its recipe with us?

Well, I'm not a great cook as I only prefer to eat. But once, I got the chance to prepare pasta. I can tell you how to make that.

1 tbsp capers

1/4 cup fresh, chopped parsley

Grated cheese for garnish, if required

Preparation:

Heat oil in a heavy saucepan, add onions and pancetta and cook until onions are tender, for about five minutes. Add garlic and zucchini, and cook until the zucchini is almost tender. Add wine, olives, capers, sun-dried tomatoes, Gorgonzola cheese, and mix well. Season with salt and pepper, and cook for another minute or two until the cheese melts and a sauce is ready.

Cook the pasta until al dente. Mix together the drained pasta and the zucchini mixture over medium heat for a minute or two. Garnish with chopped parsley. Add grated cheese if desired.
